At Manby Lodge School we provide the children with the provision and opportunity to join in lots of physical activity. In 2019, we worked hard and made improvements in our PE provision and we gained the Two Star Award from the Active Surrey KS1 Star Mark Accreditation.
All pupils at Manby Lodge spend at least two hours taking part in their physical education. In PE lessons, pupils focus on utilising the resources provided by REAL PE. As the children progress through school, they begin to apply these skills to identified sports such as football, rugby, netball, tennis, cricket, yoga and indoor athletics. The children are also allowed to develop the values of teamwork, respect and fairness in the classes.
Providing competitive opportunities for our pupils is one of our key priorities and is an area we have focused on in recent years. In 2019 pupils represented the school in competition against local primary schools and won.
The School Sport and Activity Action Plan set out the government’s commitment and funding to ensuring that children and young people have access to at least 60 minutes of sport and physical activity per day in primary education. At Manby Lodge we use the government funding every year carefully. The breakdown of our spend for 2022/23 can be viewed by clicking here.
Manby Lodge offers a wide range of extra-curricular clubs for pupils to join. Many are fee-paying, run by outside agencies who have the appropriate qualifications and are familiar with working with Manby Lodge children. In July 2021, we successfully introduced extra-curricular tag Rugby with specialist coaches from Esher Rugby Club. In September 2021, we introduced Yoga sessions at lunchtime and after-school. In April 2022, we introduced tennis lessons from Surrey Tennis Association. Please see the school clubs page for a timetable of all the clubs on offer,
