Music at Manby Lodge

At Manby Lodge we understand how important it is for children to experience and take part in music and performance. Through the Charanga scheme, children begin their musical journey in Reception and continue to build their skills and confidence right through to Year 2. Each step of progression is carefully designed to nurture creativity, listening skills, and expression, while ensuring that every child experiences the excitement of making music.

From the very beginning, children are encouraged to play, sing, and explore sounds, developing a love of rhythm and melody. As they move through the years, develop their confidence and skill in using different instruments and work together to improvise and compose music.

We believe it is important for children to share their music with others, whether that’s singing to their classmates, playing in assemblies, or taking part in larger school events. These opportunities help children to grow in confidence, celebrate their achievements, and understand the joy of bringing music and performance to an audience. We are proud to offer many performance opportunities throughout the year, ensuring every child feels the excitement of being part of something special. Some of the events that our children take part in are: Nativity performances at Christmas, Year 2 Choir performances at Weybridge Fair each summer, and with other schools at the annual Elmbridge Schools Choir Festival.

We also offer a wide range of opportunities for children outside of the classroom and provide a wide range of clubs and extra-curricular music lessons, to inspire children and extend their musical experiences. These include: Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Drums, Violin, Rocksteady Bands and Year 2 Choir.
