Safeguarding

Safeguarding statement: At Manby Lodge we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We make every effort to provide an environment in which children and adults feel safe, secure, valued and respected, and feel confident to talk if they are worried, believing they will be effectively listened to. The purpose of our Safeguarding policy is to provide staff, volunteers and governors with the framework they need in order to keep children safe and secure in our school. The policy also informs parents and shows we will safeguard their children whilst they are in our care. You can download a copy of the policy below.

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.

We have a Child Protection Policy in place (please click on our downloads and links box). All members of the school community must be sure they are aware of these procedures.

The Manby Lodge Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs K Saffer.

The DSL Deputies are: Miss M Morris, Mrs N Trodd (Key Stage 1 Lead & Fox Class Teacher) and Mrs G Hughes (EYFS Lead & Duckling Class Teacher).

Our Safeguarding Governor is Wendy Luiz.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to one of the DSLs in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) who will consider what action to take.

Please also refer to the Prevent Strategy information for parents in the download box.
