The Governing Body’s work is all about making sure that the school delivers what it is supposed to – the best possible education and care for all the children who attend Manby Lodge. Our Governing Body is made up of parent governors, school staff and representatives from the community and the local authority. Our termly Full Governing Body Meetings are open to parents and carers – dates are advertised in the school calendar.
Our focus is on continuous school improvement and by law, we have three main strands to our role:
To Provide a Strategic View
What are our long term aims, how will we achieve them and how, as governors do we know how effective the school is?
To Act as a Critical Friend
We promote the school and support its work by monitoring and evaluating the school’s effectiveness.
To Ensure Accountability
Governors are the “responsible” body and it is our job to be accountable to pupils, their parents and carers and all other stakeholders, for the decisions we make as a governing body and for the academic and personal developmental progress our pupils make. It is also our role as governors, to hold the school to account, on behalf of the stakeholder groups of whom we are representative members.
