Statement of Curriculum Intent

Our Curriculum is:

Inspirational

We offer exciting, imaginative learning environments and our staff teach with enthusiasm and passion.

Learning is fun, challenging, progressive and purposeful where possible.

We make the most of our school environment – indoors and outdoors.

By working in partnership with parents and our community for trips and visits, we make valuable links that children can recognise, at the same time as exposing children to the wider world.

Inclusive and carefully planned

We nurture individuals from the moment they join us, considering any needs and strengths and building on these.

Because we know that all children are different and learn at different rates, we plan teaching so that it suits each individual child – some children need more support while some need more challenge.

We make sure that well-being, mental health and physical development are key features in our curriculum and capitalise on staff developing the best relationships they can with each child.

We focus on in depth learning, allowing children to master key concepts through sustained thoughtfully sequences learning. across all subjects.

By giving children opportunities to revisit previous learning and to make links between different subject areas, we support the best kind of learning – that makes new knowledge stick.

Ambitious

All our staff have high expectations for each child, which means that our children make excellent progress from Year R to Year 2, and when they leave us, they are ready for Junior school.

Children take pride in their learning – and want to be the best they can be.

We expect that children’s outcomes are high. We monitor progress all children make throughout the year, and adapt planning in response to gaps identified between the learning of different groups of children.
